Background
I remember once seeing the facade of a house where there was a large patio with stairs that lead up to the top level. It looked like a rectangle on top of a rectangle. I loved the idea and I just started building.
This apartment-like house is perfect for an artist and a working couple. The top floor has an open-plan kitchen with barstools, a dining room, and a powder room right by the foyer. Go down the stairs and there’s the den, the art studio, and the master suite. I wanted the environment to be warm and inviting, not too bright or too dull.
