If a desk has books as built-in clutter it now functions as a bookshelf. EynSims has already created the City Living and Discover University ones but there’s a bug with doing homework on those so I’ve included them in my version as well.
These are overrides to the EA objects, creating a custom tuning that’s a mashup of bookshelf and desk tuning and moving them to the Bookshelf category in addition to desks. It shouldn’t conflict with anything unless you have something else that happens to modify these objects specifically, but please let me know if you have any problems with it.

Update 6/9/22:
Fixed a bug where the bookshelf part wasn’t working. Seems to possibly be related to a game update rather than my last fix because I couldn’t get an old version working either. Should be good now though.
I realized that having Separate, Merged, and Merged by pack was probably confusing so I’ll be slowly updating all my mods to use a new structure.
Starting with v1.3 the Separate download has been discontinued.
Now there are two downloads: Merged and ByPack.
– Merged contains all objects in one file.
– ByPack contains a TUNING file and one file per pack. You can pick and choose the packs you have/want
– Each download also contains a file explaining this.
Added a desk that I missed before (in my defense, the books are on the backside of the thumbnail)
Please delete your existing files and redownload one of the new zips because the renamed files won’t overwrite the old ones.

First of all, this is not a mod I expected to be updating unless I found another object that needed this treatment, but then I found a bug so here we are.
Fixed a bug preventing sims from doing homework at these desks.
Included the City Living and Discover University desks in both downloads because the versions by EynSims have the same bug. Be sure to delete those ones if you’re using mine because they will conflict!
Changed how the merged folder is organized for ease of updates. If you install by merged pack you’ll now need to include a required tuning file. Please delete your old files to make sure no old code ends up overwriting the new.
Update 9/21/21:
Added a basegame desk that I had previously missed.
As a result of the new addition I reorganized the Merged file to have a folder per pack and instructions
Known issues
You can’t LiveDrag a book to the surface for a sim to use (like homework or whatever). If you try to do that it will go into the bookshelf inventory. The fix for this is to remove the ability to drop books there, but I like that functionality too much to give it up. However, if I get requests I can make an alternate version with drop functionality removed.
